She showed off her style, giving sukuma bak’bone vibes – 8 times Thobile Makhumalo killed it
Whatever the occasion, Thobile ‘MaKhumalo’ Mseleku always brings his A-game style along with his kindness and positive energy which makes his fans love him even more.
Yes, it’s the mansions, the vacation homes, the supercars and jets, the trips, the businesses they run, and the storylines that have you hooked on The Real Housewives.
The Durban version of this international reality show that seems loved and hated in equal measure does things differently, however, since it first premiered last year starring Annie Ludick, Ayanda Ncwane, Kgomotso Ndungane, Nonkanyiso “LaCoonco” Conco , Nonku Williams and Sorisha Naidoo.
For many fans, it provided much-needed entertainment in a dark time of extended lockdown induced by the Covid-19 pandemic. The drama the women brought, alongside guest cast members Mabusi Seme and Nonku’s mother, The Queen, lit up our worlds with Ayanda arguably stealing the show in every episode when it comes to style.

This season, a surprising new addition to the family was Thobile “MaKhumalo” Mseleku of Uthando Nes’thembu fame. She understood the mission of Real Housewives of Durban and made no apologies for being a rural girl who struck gold, she told Drum at the start of the season.
Since joining the show, her outfits as well as her casting have been hotly debated. Thobile, however, seems to just be having fun with it – mixing things up on the reality show and her looks.
“Your outfit should speak for itself when you walk into a room, even before people talk to you,” were the words of Thobile herself when she first appeared on Real Housewives of Durban.
Here are some of MaKhumalo’s looks we’ve loved so far, both on and off the show.
Makhumalo wore this look at Sorisha’s Halloween party in Episode 5. Get the shoes baby! They are superb. We don’t know who she came to the party, but yassss.
Like we said, effortless style. Makhumalo rocked this blue and purple ensemble while spending the day on a yacht – a perfect balance of relaxation and glamour.
Traditional accessories mixed with a simple black dress. This with an immaculate facebeat while rocking her natural look? No wonder it’s a fan favorite.
Athleisure but make it glamorous. She might wear prom dresses and formal dresses most of the time, but MaKhumalo is showing us that she knows how to pull off a casual look.
A lookbook with Makhumalo’s style wouldn’t be complete without a beautiful dress.
Unafraid to be bold, Makhumalo often opts for dramatic colors, patterns and prints.
Her off-the-shoulder dresses have kind of become her signature style.
A matching two-piece is always a good idea.
