The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently embarked on a Caribbean tour of Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize. The couple visited locals, attended functions, played in a drum circle and even visited a Belizean chocolate factory. (Royal life must be hard sometimes.)
From formal evening wear to chic summer dresses, by Kate Middleton wardrobe has dazzled, impressed and paid homage to the countries she has visited. Every look embodied his timeless, classic style, whether in the Belizean forest or the King’s House in Jamaica.
And in true Kate Middleton fashion, many of her looks were accessible enough for us plebeians to wear too. Of course, we may not be embarking on a week-long tour of the Caribbean in designer couture anytime soon. But these Amazon dupes can at least make us feel like royalty – at the cost of a commoner.
Tropical Flowers for Belize
The Duke and Duchess began their Caribbean tour at a cocoa farm and Che’il Mayan chocolate factory in Belize. Middleton wore a Tory Burch smocked midi dress in a fitting royal blue. She paired the dress with matching statement earrings, nude wedges and an Anya Hindmarch straw fan clutch.
by ZESICA Floral dress with ruffles and square neckline comes in 20 huge colors and patterns, so you can be as bold or understated as you want. If you’re looking to wear the same shade of blue Middleton wore in Belize, the cobalt blue ruffled dress (left) is a great option. On the other hand, the multicolored navy dress right embodies the same liveliness of the Tory Burch original.
Middleton completed the design of her dress with a pair of plain blue earrings. Choosing a solid color allows the flowers in the dress to pop without becoming too overwhelming. these bohemian circle bead earrings are reasonably priced dupes that, despite their larger size, are surprisingly light and comfortable to wear.
Tried and True Red Packaging
Boarding the plane to leave Belize, the Duchess wore a red and white ensemble that paid subtle homage to the country’s flag. Not only is this set effortlessly chic, it’s also thrifty. She bought her red belted Yves Saint Laurent jacket while she was still in college.
I don’t hold my breath when I find an Yves Saint Laurent piece at my local Goodwill, so I started scouring Amazon for passable dupes. This belted blazer by Cicy Bell features the same vibrant color, cinched waist and structured lapels. Besides, it’s less than $40— good luck finding a YSL jacket at this price.
However, if you are looking for something lighter and easier to wear indoors, then this Romwe Half Sleeve Belted Blouse is an excellent choice. The scarlet top features the same cinched waist with a peplum flare, offering a effortless hourglass figure. Flowing half sleeves make this blouse roomy and airy for all-day comfort.
Complete your Kate Middleton dupe ensemble with a white palazzo pants by FancyInn. these polyester crepe trousers have a subtle stretch for easy movement. Plus, the high-waisted silhouette provides extra support and smoothing for your tummy and hips.
Exploring the Belizean Rainforest
Middleton transitions from formal ball gowns to outdoor exploration with seemingly no effort. She looked equally at home hiking through ancient Mayan ruins as she was visiting government officials in lavish robes. The Duchess wore a simple white top with fitted olive green trousers for the couple’s outdoor excursion. During a hike in the forest, she also wore a Scotch & Soda light khaki safari jacket.
What if your “Belizian forest” was actually just “the park two blocks from your house?” ” This lightweight utility jacket from Pepchic is perfect for both occasions. Featuring an easy snap closure and breathable 100% cotton fabric, this safari jacket will be your new go-to cover-up.
I particularly liked the casual (but surprisingly flattering) olive jeans Middleton wore while exploring Belize. The dark green hue makes these pants more interesting than regular blue jeans but less formal than actual pants. these HDE skinny jeans have a slight stretch and a mid-rise waistband for an extra comfortable fit you can wear all day.
Kate wore a classic, braided leather belt with her explorer outfit. A high quality hand woven belt is worth its weight in gold. Fortunately, this one from the Tanpie Store is less than $20. You can match this timeless belt with almost any outfit. Because it is woven and not solid, you also have the freedom to tighten or loosen your belt as much as you want.
Fluid mint on a rainy day
Despite torrential downpours over the Bahamas, the Duke and Duchess shone during their visit to Sybil Strachan Elementary School in Nassau. The dress Middleton wore during her visit is one of my favorite looks from the tour. From the delicate mint green color to the romantic buttons and chiffon pleats, this dress from Self Portrait is a winner in my book.
While this dress might be a winner, I don’t love it enough to drop $500 on it. Luckily, I’ve found several dupes on Amazon that closely match Middleton’s whimsical midi dress. This wrap dress from PrettyGarden has a similar elastic green color. Plus, it has the same delicate buttons and puff sleeves perfect like a princess.
According to the Queen’s strict wardrobe rules, this smocked midi dress by GraceVines would definitely be a royal no-no. (Perhaps a positive side to do not to be royal is to be able to wear strapless dresses?) Anyway, this dress comes second to Middleton’s original Self Portrait with its understated mint hue and charming bodice features.
